Canadian PR Card Renewal: Secure Your Status

Protecting your future in Canada starts with your status. While your PR status does not expire when your card does, you still need a valid document to travel. Specifically, you must have a valid card to re-enter Canada by plane, bus, or train.

At Rangers Immigration, we handle complex renewals. We meticulously audit your travel history against the 730-day residency rule. Our Calgary team ensures your application has zero errors. This prevents long processing delays

Meet the 730-Day Residency Rule

You must live in Canada for at least 730 days in each five years. This is a “rolling” window. IRCC looks back five years from the day they receive your application.

But can you count the time spent abroad? Fortunately, you may count days outside Canada if you:

  • Travel with a Spouse: In this case, your partner is a Canadian citizen.

  • Work Abroad: Alternatively, a Canadian business may have assigned you to work overseas.

  • Have H&C Grounds: For example, you have a serious family emergency.

PR Card Renewal Checklist:

  • Identity: Clear copies of your PR card and all passport pages.
  • Proof of Time: Additionally, CRA tax records, employment stubs, or school grades.
  • Digital Photos: Fresh photos that meet 2026 IRCC standards.
  • Urgency Proof: A letter explaining your need for fast processing.

Why Hire a Licensed RCIC?

We audit your file before you apply. This identifies “red flags” that trigger IRCC inquiries.
